Fundraising Ball for Cystic Fibrosis
Over 160 guests joined us on Saturday 8th October, at the Somerset County Cricket Club for our bi-annual fundraising Ball. Dancing was to the live band Hot Meat, there were Black Jack and Roulette tables alongside a Silent Auction, Tombola and Raffle to entertain our guest after the reception and sit down dinner.
Before the event we did our sums and our efforts over the past 10 years was an outstanding £89,900, income mainly generated through our Balls. We are doing the final sums, we hope with the monies from this event to break through the £100,000 barrier. A huge achievement for a small group of volunteers whose families are directly affected by Cystic Fibrosis. Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a genetic condition affecting more than 10,800 people in the UK. You are born with Cystic Fibrosis and cannot catch it later in life. One in 25 of us carries the faulty gene that causes it, usually without even knowing.
We chose the Cricket Club as the venue has enough space for our guests and to display our prizes. Heather of the Somerset County Cricket Club is the superstar of our day and is on hand throughout to help us prepare the room exactly as we require.
