Five-Star Performance by Catering Team
Somerset County Cricket Club’s Catering Department are celebrating this week after once again being awarded the highest rating for food hygiene by The Food Standards Agency and Taunton Deane Borough Council.
All businesses that serve food or drink are inspected by a food safety officer from the local authority and following the inspection they are given a ‘hygiene rating’. This indicates how closely they are meeting the requirements of food hygiene law.
During the thorough inspection the food safety officer assesses how hygienically food is handled, prepared, cooked, re-heated, cooled and stored. The inspection also highlights the cleanliness, layout, lighting and ventilation of the building and other facilities.
How the business manages and records what it does to ensure the safety of its food is also investigated and at the end of the inspection, the business is given a rating.
The top rating of five, which Somerset County Cricket Club has once again achieved, means that the business was found to have ‘very good’ hygiene standards.
Following the announcement Catering General Manager, Sam Safe said: “To maintain our rating of five is fantastic news for us. We have a large and dedicated team here and this award just goes to show just how much care and attention to detail goes in to everything that we do.
“To achieve a rating of five is great but to maintain that level shows that we refuse to rest on our laurels. We are constantly striving to be the very best and I would like to thank every member of our team because they are the reason that we have scored five again. We take great pride in what we do and that is reflected in this rating.”
